We Built the Directory We Wish Had Existed
FindGeneratorPros was built out of a straightforward frustration: when homeowners need a whole-home generator installed, finding a contractor they can actually trust is harder than it should be. General search results mix licensed electricians with handymen, active businesses with closed ones, and vetted professionals with whoever paid the most for an ad.

Founder, FindGeneratorPros
Home services industry background · Generator market researcher
After watching homeowners in storm-prone cities scramble to find reliable generator installers after major outages — often settling for unvetted contractors or paying far above market rate simply because they had no benchmark — I decided to build something better.
FindGeneratorPros launched with a simple premise: aggregate real, verified contractor data from across the country, make it easy to compare on the signals homeowners actually care about (licensing, insurance, ratings, brands installed), and connect them directly — no middlemen, no lead auction, no upsell.
Every contractor listing in our directory was sourced from Google Places data and verified against active business status. We track ratings, review counts, and licensing status because that's what determines whether an installation goes smoothly or becomes a four-figure mistake.

How the Directory Works
Sourced from real local data
Every contractor in the directory was sourced from Google Places data — the same platform homeowners use to find and review local businesses every day. We don't scrape generic business lists or purchase outdated databases.
Filtered for active, rated businesses
We only include contractors who are actively operating, have verifiable ratings, and whose listing information matches across public records. See our full vetting criteria on the How We Vet Contractors page.
Direct connection — no auction, no markup
When you call a contractor from this directory or fill out a quote form, your information goes directly to that contractor. We don't sell your data to multiple contractors or run a bidding system.
Updated regularly
Contractor data is reviewed and refreshed periodically. If a business closes, changes ownership, or accumulates negative reviews, they are removed from the directory. Contractors can also claim and update their own listing.
Where We Operate
We launched with ten metro areas chosen based on generator demand, storm frequency, and homeowner density. All ten are in the South and Central US — the regions with the highest demand for backup power due to hurricane exposure, ice storm risk, and grid instability.
Additional markets coming in 2026. Contractors outside our current coverage area can request to be listed.
